Volks: The time has come for Gertie to move on to another (hopefully bus friendly!) owner. Don't know if you guys remember, but Gertie was rescued from the Gertrude Street recyclers in South Bend, Indiana, by me, Scott and my brother, Chris. It was a post on this list that alerted us to it's impending doom. I think it was Kevin in LaPorte? We did the top end rebuild, new brakes all around, new water pump, injectors. She is an '85 manual with Z Bed. Runs really well, there is about 1,800 miles on that rebuild. Just took to her up near Dowagiac, Michigan for a gathering with some home brew and bus brothers this past weekend. Just want to say that 10 years ago, I know very little about the internal combustion engine, the bus life and the friends I have met have taught me a lot about engines and a lot about life. It was a very cool experience seeing this bus come back to life and roll out of my barn and down the road. Thanks again to the Vanagon list, all who post and those who keep it going.

Scott is the actual owner (and genius bus guru) and I've listed his email on the Samba ad:

The ad also has a link to other pics on my Picasa account.
