I think someone lowered the top while the stove was still hot, rather than let it cool down. Maybe even with the burners on. My original bumpers are still there. There are bumbers on the stove lid, too, in addition to those on the cabinet top. All are intact. I think you have no worry unless you do what some previous owner of our projectile sciurid friend's camper did. Dave Mc
