It hooks to your home cable/sat etc and transmits signal to Internet Through your router. the supplied software on your computer ( lap top etc) displays picture and controllable image of your remote. I have it hooked to my DVR so I can also control and watch recorded programs. You should be able to find other information on Youtube etc
