Primer sealer is NOT going to keep the rust at bay - PERIOD !
Wrong stuff, it is not moisture proof. Bare & rusted metal need to be treated
with rust proofing coatings. I prefer by far POR-15 but there are others
that common body shops use. Better do some homework on what's availble to
you BUT I strongly suggest POR-15, it works hands down. I have been using
it for over 20 years and very, very seldom do I see any rust come back and
usually it can be attributed to poor preperation and coating or the metal
was not able to be completley encapsulated with POR-15. With any rust
control coating the metal MUST be encapsulated, if you cannot or not able to or
not willing to do this the rust will come back as it will travel up and
under the coating you applied. The idea of the coating is to completely seal
the metal from access of air and moisture so oxidation cannot take place.

typical
rust spot where the camper stuff is welded in on the drivers side. I ran
out
of time after applying primer/sealer and thought thats ok to wait a while
at
this stage.......
now we had two days of solid rain, and I have micro bubbles under the
primer
about an inch away from the seam, and worse, something slightly rustcolored
at a few seam spots.
Obviously I have to redo a few things, but I was wondering whether my
assumption that primer sealer is weathertight was wrong, or if I did the
whole thing wrong......<<<<<<<<
