My solution for that gap is to slide a pipe insulation foam strip behind the Shady Boy and press it firmly into the gap. We have used this in several storms and no drip, drip, drip. In dry weather and underway, I store the tube forward of the pop top hinge mechanism and wrapped around past the poptop holddown at the front, on the lip of the Van's metal top.
