All I know is that my EGR filter, (the charcoal canister) in my
previous '81 Federal emissions van, was leaking at the seams,
according to the Smog shop.  He "passed" my van under a visual
inspection and told me to find a replacement before the next test.
After I discovered the part was NLA, I then had an unnamed mechanic
"patch the seams" with something (I don't recall what).  It passed
with flying colors the next several times.  That van has now retired
outside of CA in the green hills of Kentucky, with no emissions
testing required...


The Federal emissions EGR filter is NLA on this planet.  Beware.
