Subject: rear washer reservoir-heads up
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed

I had been wondering why rear washer never really worked right on my newly acquired '86. I replaced a broken section of tubing at hatch hinge and the sprayer then worked, but next day it didn't

Well call me slow, but I really didn't think the reservoir was leaking...

I checked today, yup, all that fluid I was adding (2 fills) went somewhere else. The culprit was the pump housing. It is in 2 pieces and was not sealed so the fluid could come up the impeller drive shaft and out of the joint and into the wall.

I fixed with JB weld. Note that the outlet tubing has to be cut off, and use hot water to soften tubing for re-install, it is quite tight.

Oh and a one person re-aiming nozzle to hit the almost vertical back window is a good candidate for a time lapse short movie with yackety- sax sound track
