Congratulations on the find and the buy.  Your narrative brings back memories of that old "please, please, please let me be the first caller" feeling in such situations. Our '87 came from the second owner and not from a lot, and she was concerned about finding the right new home for her "Max" so I had the additional burden of performance anxiety.

I purchased 87 Vanagon Westfalia "Weekender" yesterday.  It's a burgundy (maroon) colored Westy Weekender (pop top, no kitchen) with just over 200K miles on it.  I found it on Craig's List and it was FS on a VOA (Volunteers of America) used car lot in Everett WA.
