The Mount Washington in New Hampshire is famous for having the absolute worst winter weather of any inhabited place on earth (except perhaps the S. Pole, but the highest recorded wind speed of 237 mph occurred on Mount Washington). The weather observatory there is buried in snow and rime for a good part of the year. Google it, it's worth knowing about.
