I've had a similar problem with my '85 Vanagon Westfalia. When I fill up, I get fuel leaking out of the cloth-covered line that is at the end of the expansion tanks on both sides. When I first got the van, I had to replace the "y" fitting on the driver's side crossover piece. The next time I filled up, I saw the new leak-on all of the lines from the expansion tanks. I've had two other Vanagons and not seen this issue. What surprises me is that I didn't think that any gas should be getting up there in the first place. This means that the gas is not only filled in the tank, but over-filled so much that it is going up into the expansion tanks in the wheel well, right?
