i should restrain myself but...


wd40 is a mixture of a carrier/solvent, stoddard or mineral, or "what
ever" petroleum distillate and something more.... it seems to leave a
greasy residue when sprayed liberally (not conservatively) on metal
and the carrier allowed to evaporate so i suspect there is more to it
than just the carrier.

its great for what it was invented for.



cosmolene is a thick packing grease type product used to prevent rust
when you want to store a bunch of surplus jeeps :) it has stoddard
solvent  or naptha as the carrier and then some long chain aliphatic,
like a grease or a wax, and also i believe they add some sort of rust
inhibiting compound.

goes on like thick grease, it acts as a moisture barrier and can,
after a few years, get really hard to remove.



hey, how about using it on our seams?
