Original post in September about a propane jockey not tightening the bleed valve shut on the propane tank, the resulting leak detected 15 minutes later in a parking lot, my attempt to retighten it, but even when fully tightened the smell of propane persisting for weeks, and my attempt to find the leak (bubble fluid, but to no avail) prompted this from Dennis Haynes:

And that's what it apparently was. Not a skunk, I mean, but that sulfurous rotten-egg/onions smell does indeed stick around for a long time. The driver's side of the van now no longer smells of the propane oderant yet there is propane a-plenty for the stove and heater.

You're right -- that stuff does persist for a LONG long time. It's apparently a liquid up to 35C, so it must spray all over the place and just sit there and stink. Like my ex mother-in-law.
