Exactly how is the key being one sided a big problem? Doesn't work one way? Just turn it over. Simple solution. Two sided keys seem to me a solution to a non-problem, but it's one I'm not fussing about. BTW, my '91 Vanagon GL Campmobile uses a two sided key. However, the separate little key for the glove box is one sided. Never use that thing. Anyone who gets into the car, and is determined to rifle the glove box is going to do so, locked or not.

Electronic keys? Big, new ew problem to fix a non-problem. Even if the entire ignition system is electronic, a mechanical key and lock could be used, in lieu of the electronic key and button I have. With the electronic key and entry system I have for one vehicle, if the battery is depleted, I have to use the mechanical key supplied for entry only to get in my car. But, then what to do? Service the battery, then reprogram everything ............. . But, oh well ............ . David
