I have the 50-50 windows on my Westy as well so I've been pondering a screen solution too. I don't really have any need to have the screens attached to the outside of the van so I'm looking to make something that will pop into the inside window channel when the window is open. I was thinking about cutting a frame out of smoked Lexan but I have no solution for attaching a screen to it. I'd like the screen to be replaceable so something like the standard hardware store channel kit would be simplest. Maybe there is a way to attach a screen kit to the Lexan. You can buy Lean (or any plastic) at the width you'd need for it to drop easily into the window groove. I think the screen kit channels are too wide to fit into the window groove.
