You burn oderless mineral spirits in the Dietz lantern? The web page that you referred us to has a very dramatic safety advisory concerning that. Seems that heat is transferred to the tank when the lantern is operating. With mineral spirits, or other low molecular weight fuel, the tank develops pressure -- boom. Not good. Kerosene is pretty cheap, why not use that? That's one of the recommended fuels.

I have two Coleman gasoline lanterns. Haven't used them in years. Gets dark pretty late in summer. A flashlight (and lately an led lamp with batteries) seems to serve perfectly adequately.

However, the Dietz lantern looks interesting, and it is inexpensive. Might think about it, sans mineral spirits.
