When into the 144's I always had a spare.... for parts! (those were old even back then) So installing a SOHC "Redblock" Volvo engine into a Vanagon appears to involve the usual items one would deal with on a DIY swap: exhaust + engine carrier fabbing and interfacing the electrical. I wonder if the oil filler cap on the valve cover gasket is higher than a 4" raised engine cover? Wiring may be a bit more complex. Seems some might have OBD2.
