Is that Imports Plus in Ponca City? Reputation is good, but I have no
experience with the shop. Ponca City is relatively close to Stillwater,
but in the opposite direction from Tulsa. Other than Darryl's Hobby
Shop and Bavarian Autohause, both in Norman, other shops in the OKC area
seem to be pretty bad. I have had good experience with Darryl's (and
will be using the shop this week), and with Bavarian Autohoause. Darryl
is good at improvising when needed. He used a Jetta temp sender for my
'91 GL camper, which he said was identical but less expensive to the one
listed. Works great. He also modified the oil pressure sender
installations so that both senders are easily accessible, structurally
very stable, and work great with both the idiot light and a gauge. I've
been negatively impressed with "Larry's V.W. Import Services," and with
"Volkswagen Mazda Services." The former's owner told me a terrible
story about helping a seller disguise nasty problems with a van, and the
latter simply wanted to change out parts without any basis for knowing
the parts were the problem. The owner at "Volkswagen Mazda Services"
also wanted me to pay up front for parts -- evidently he does not have
credit with suppliers. Cable Volkswagen in Oklahoma City will not work
on Vanagons, though they will order parts at outrageous prices. Metric
Motors in Edmond also does not work on Vanagons.
