Hi all. I see in the archives that at least one fellow put in a SOHC Volvo engine. Since it is/was carbed, the engine lid was raised pretty high up. Ground clearance looks ok though. Calles Vanagon with Volvo engine (thanks Alistair): http://www.members.shaw.ca/bilbo/callevan.html Looking at Wiki, it seems the B230 is derived from the B21 "Redblock" and that these type of engines were make up to '98. Likely the general dimensions of the engine are the same as what Calle installed. I figured that w/o the carb though, it might only require engine lid to be raised ~ 4". And w/o a turbo, it ain't no barn burner, but might be an option. (he asks rhetorically :) KEP shows an adaptor plate for Volvo B18, B20, B21. What about a 2.3 turbo? B230FT maybe? Googled pics of B230FT: http://tinyurl.com/ylaoqq8 http://tinyurl.com/yg9axmq http://tinyurl.com/yjda95r http://tinyurl.com/yhkd9ae Just curious. Since it has a turbo, thought I'd throw it out there.
