I tend to disagree, The volvo 240s are some of my favorite non-vanagon cars, particularly the turbo versions. It's a completely idiot proof engine with a turbo simply added to it (But it's designed to take it). It works great, simple mechanics, cheap parts, etc. Now when you get into the newer volvo turbos.....ya, those can get expensive to maintain fast. We have a '97 850turbo GLT and it's an amazing car, 30mpg and FAST, though it's a fair bit more complicated than a B230F engine....

I'd say it would make a wonderful swap other than the decklid problem.
