Well, I took Grover for an 1 mile round trip - along with some periods of sitting in park to get some heat while the boy was at football practice.

All seemed well for the most part - I had heat, temp gauge was where it should be - and the engine noise dissapeared proving to be the lifters as was expected.

Over all I was very pleased - there appears to be a bit of a pulsing idle (not much) goes from around 1000rpm to 1100rpm and back. Could be timing I suppose - or possibly a bit of a vacume leak - nothing I'm real concerned about.

Now the bad news - Dun Dun Dunnnnnnnnnn! On our way home we began leaking a lot of coolant :( - upon inspection it appears to be coming from the hose that goes from the front of the passenger side of the head to the plastic coolant manifold. It was too dark and coolant too hot to really take a look. It's upsetting but I don't think I'll find it is a big deal - probably didn't tighten it all the way. The engine DID NOT overheat. At first I thought it was coming from the head gasket and nearly cried - but it is not - whew!!

As a bit of humor - my son is 9. When we first started the bus up he said "That doesn't sound good" - you see before this engine replcaement Grover had a less than stock exhaust (it was a crazy over sized tractor muffler with no cat and a peice of license plate clamped over a hole in the J pipe) - so apprently he thought it was supposed to be loud :) I guess you get used to things.
