I agree with the previous statements about using solar, or other
methods of alternative energy generation.
However, I do not agree that one should use those other methods
strictly for noise reduction.

I have gone camping with a little Honda inverter-style generator, and
we could not hear it 20' from our campsite.
A little insulation goes a long way. :)
