Well, yes, I have an '86 transporter that I installed a B230F in (no turbo). torque is great fuel economy is decent (23 mpg loaded) My has the stock Volvo fuel injection. platinum wire intake air sensor is the key bosch FI highlight. As far as shoehorning it in the rear of the vehicle... I I have an Automatic transaxle, front mount was slidforward about an inch.. deck lid elevated 6 inches, and entire rear valance was refabricated. (I'm a bit of a handy fellow) its not a documented conversion. but well worth the effort. Bring on your Zetecs and Subarus (normally aspirated) and I'll leave them all in the dust. and was about $4K cheaper
