RE: GPS capabilities and limitations Keep in mind that although the base maps and POI files contain very generic data the way they are handled and presented can be different from Garmin to Pioneer to Magellan to Tom Tom. Most are using data from the same vendor, Navteq. Even the main menus appear the same from model to model BUT what capability is made available to the user varies dramatically from model to model, even within the same product line. So determine what your needs and expectations are for use in your Vanagon, try to check the units out 'hands on' and be prepared to find that some function that you consider basic just isn't there because some software designer somewhere decided 'no one will ever need to do that'. |
