i've done this sort of thing a lot. most recently when i was 63 - so i don't think old age has to be a factor. if i get tired i just pull into a rest area and nap till i wake up and continue on. i like to listen to books on tape (or in my case books on iphone). i also sing along with my songs. i keep a couple of lists of road songs on my iphone just to sing along to. i keep myself hydrated, sugared and espressoed. i stop fairly often to exercise. as it gets along toward daybreak i make sure my wife is awake to make sure i'm awake. she can't drive because of physical limitations so i get to do all the driving and i find the hours or so before and after daybreak the hardest. enjoy, r > >> On Thu, Nov 12, 2009 at 5:31 PM, Richard Golen <rgolen@hotmail.com> >> wrote: >> >> >> The plan is to leave next Friday at 6pm drive through the night and >> arrive >> early Sat evening. >> >> Any hints, suggestions, etc?
