Happy Friday, Volks!
It is with MUCH excitement and pleasure that my new wife (she still has that
new wife smell) and I have FINALLY (after much discussion) made the decision
to relocate to Seattle!
This is FANTASTIC for me because the Evergreen State is home
(Wenatchee/Leavenworth).
Even better is that she's been in love with Seattle for YEARS and had
actually been planning a move prior to being offered an executive position
at Mandalay Bay (she's now at MGM Grand).
It all came down to a pretty simple equation: Raising Kids + Vegas = HELL
NO!
Plus, we're both burned out on Sin City. MORE than burned out! And both LOVE
Seattle. Done deal.
Economy is tight and jobs obviously are not as easy to come by as they have
been in recent years, however we've been doing some preliminary hunting and
thus far are pretty happy with what we're finding.
Still, I want to utilize as many resources as are available to me - this
list being one!
We're in our 30's, both looking for Marketing/Advertising type gigs.
She's at Director/AVP level. I'm not quite as senior.
And of course, I'm currently an insurance agent in NV - but for Farmers, and
I've heard some HORRIBLE stories about Farmers in WA!
(NOTE: If ANY of you are currently insured in WA with Farmers for ANYTHING,
do not pass go, but collect HUNDREDS of dollars by getting a quote with ANY
of Farmers' competitors)
That being said, I'm also looking to insurance ELSEWHERE but keeping all of
my options open.
The BEST scenario would be if any of you have any direct leads on jobs that
you could help point me in the direction of.
Next best is to find out if you can offer up any solid resources to aid in
our job search (aside from the obvious Monster, CareerBuilder, PI, Times).
We're HOPING to be there in the next 6 months.
Realize that may be WAY too optimistic, but it's a goal.
I was telling Loren the other day that I can't WAIT to be back in the land
of the Vanagon, and in a place where we can finally make some campouts!
Thanks in advance for any tips or advice!
Oh, btw. Blackbeard gets out of the body shop today with his spiffy "new"
bumper (thanks again, Dan) and dent-free, fresh paint!
