Ric,

Don't do it, or at least, don't be pig-headed about it.  When you get tired,
take a nap.  I don't want to lose friends before I meet them.

Invariably, when Steph and I try to do something of this nature, I'll start
driving and suggest that she take a nap so she can drive when I get tired.
"No, I'm wide awake."  After a few hours at the wheel my eyeballs will start
bouncing (a great indicator that it's time to quit, BTW) and ask her if she
feels up to driving.  She'll probably be snoring away, so it's time to pull
over and take a break.

You'd think we'd be able to work around this, but we haven't in the last 24
years, so we probably won't in the next 24 either.
