Oddly enough, I've found that in terms of staying awake, doing longer shifts of driving has gotten easier in my latter years. (I'm 46)

Tips? Obviously share the driving. IMO, those with "eyes" should do the night shift. Get some travel type pillows for passengers to sleep so they can stay buckled up. And whoever is doing their shift shouldn't eat too much during that time.

Bottom line? IMO, pull over and sleep at a rest stop when eyes get tired. Even a few hours of kip will make a world of difference. Boil up some water, drop in some of that new fangled Starbucks instant and go. I hear it's pretty good. But......

Don't push it. It's never worth it.
