Excellent point.  Most of the replies I've seen so far have been giving tips on how to do the drive and very few advising you not to do it.  I'm with the second group.  It's fine if you rotate drivers and try to make it in 24, but I do not recommend you drive it all yourself.   I'm 59 and have done things like this in the past but would not do so again.  In addition, I was a road rep for 15 years and more than once drove when I was too tired in order to get home at a reasonable hour on Friday night.  More than once I realized I was being stupid enough that I was endangering my chances of ever getting home again.   I would urge you to take your time and enjoy the trip.  Having driven nearly every mile of I-95 I certainly suggest you look at a different road for any stretch you can.  Doing 24 hours is one thing; doing 24 on 95 might be torture.  Try getting off at Newark DE and driving down to Annapolis before getting back on 95 at DC.  Try to enjoy the drive and make it part of the vacation.   Stephen

My sister and her husband were killed in a head collision with a driver who fell asleep at the wheel and his vehicle crossed the center line. Why should they have pain the supreme price because somebody wanted to make time and drive tired.
