Hi Melissa,

<FRIDAY>

You make a good point, but for maximum humor effect this running series of jokes is meant to build up a complicated and hopefully contradictory body of adjectives describing a set of qualities that no sane man, or woman, would ever want in a partner and should make no sense when applied to any person, living or dead, male or female, or even human for that matter. If it causes befuddlement on the part of the reader, I'm doing my job. For example, couple weeks ago I did a trial run of the same joke after "dank and resentful -- the way I like my women." To suggest that my dear wife is either would be libelous and mean, and quite untrue. But it's really really puzzling. Which made me giggle. Probably annoyed others, but I know from funny and can be easily amused.

Everything that Steve Williams and Scott Daniels have to say on John Meeks's question make perfect sense to me. The Anderson PowerPoles are brutal connectors and I'd totally trust them to handle the current. They are easily as beefy as the teeths on your normal FLAPS jumper cables in terms of contact area and low resistance. Until I installed the DC > DC charger between my starter battery and house battery, I had a switch rigged up to manually bridge the two together by powering the big relay which bridges them when the alternator is up to speed. But adding the charger complicated things. The house battery can't send current backwards through it to juice up the starter battery. Wiring around the charger and existing relay (to avoid connecting the output of the charger to its input, such a thing possibly causing creation of Higgs bosons and a world-ending black hole) requires a bit more wiring than I care to tackle at this point.

So I reckon that if I find myself with a discharged starter battery and a charged house battery and hope the start the engine I'll jump the two batteries together with a jumper cable, sit and watch the hills for a few minutes, then crank 'er over.
