If the van is driveable, buy a one day permit from ICBC and drive it down as far as you can.

Otherwise, get BCAA plus and have them tow it 100 miles or at least into the US. Then call AAA and have it towed the rest...or as close as possible to the repair shop....but you will have to be with the vehicle.

All Vanagon owners should have AAA/CAA Plus in my opinion....these vehicles are all 20-25 years old, anything can happen.

Paying someone to tow it both ways will be expensive, especially if they have to cross the border (most drivers do not want to take a strangers vehicle across the border....for obvious reasons)
