A couple of things to check:

Make sure the ground wires are clean and tight at the left engine compartment and on the engine, paying close attention to the one nearly under the A/C bracket. If this one is loose it will run rich.

Another thing to test is your Temp Sensor, it's in the thermostat housing and is held in with a clip and sealed with an oring. You should use a VOM to test the resistance. Cold you should see 2500-3000 ohms and hot it should be more like 250-300 ohms. This littly thing controls the mixture under all conditions.

And lastly check around for air leaks. A very small vacuum leak could cause your symptoms.

Hope this helps!

Gregory Smith

Smith Design Studio
Small Building Company
Olympia, WA
360-239-0429
gregoryfsmith.com
