I just had a couple of customers come by last week and they told of a guy on the east coast that has over 100 Vanagons on his property. They had pictures of it and it was sick. He had sections for certain colors of van. There was the blue Wolfsburg section, the bright Tornado Red section, the syncro section, the Westy section, etc. The guys said that most of the vans were very rusty or had other major problems. They went there because the guy told them he had a sweet blue 89 Wolfsburg and one of the guys wanted one to replace his that had been in a wreck recently. When they got there the "sweet" van had large rust spots and the interior was trashed. When they acted like they didn't want to buy the van the guy asked them exactly what about the van they didn't like. It was like he couldn't see the defects. This is not a junk yard but a private person who owns all of these vans and has them on his private property. It is a shame because he acts like he wants to sell parts from some of the vans but when these guys talked to him about buying things he seemed hesitant. It sounds like he is obsessed and maybe needs help. Vanagon buyer's anonymous? You know eventually he will get in trouble with the town where he lives, they will give him 10 days to get all of these vans off of his property or face a huge fine and they will all go to the crusher. A darn shame.
