The ignition reset is a key. Your problem is with the O2 sensor circuit. You need to test that the O2 sensor lead is not shorted to the outer sheath. Then also need to check the ground wiring for the O2 sensor circuit. The most important ground is the one that is in the harness to the distributor. On many 86 and 87s this connection is at the base of the oil breather tower. The plastic tower does not make a good connection. Replace the ring terminal crimp connector if there is any sign of corrosion and relocate this connection to one of the screws holding the fuel pressure regulator to the manifold. These steps should take care of your problem.

Well, the Syncro has been great these last 6 months, but in the last couple weeks it will sort of randomly start to hesitate and act like it's running out of gas. Usually after about 15 mins of driving. I suspected the O2 sensor and unplugged it but the problem persisted--would drive fine for about 10-20 mins the start stuttering so I plugged the O2 back in. Oddly, if you shut it off and restart it the problem goes away. It is happening more and more regularly. I suspect now the temp II, but would love some thoughts first. 1986 Syncro 2.1 WBX.

Thanks!
