Michael, I replaced my original faucet due to the difficulty of turning the knob to actuate the pump switch, particularly with soap on the hands. I assumed the mechanism was worn, making it hard to turn, so I replaced the faucet with the OEM faucet, and was disappointed to learn that the new faucet was not much easier to turn. I lived with it for a couple of years, but I recently installed the hands-free, pneumatically-operated switch being sold by GoWesty.

This switch bypasses the switching mechanism integral to the faucet, and eliminates the need to replace the faucet itself, as long as there is nothing else wrong with it. Installation involves unplugging the faucet leads from the harness under the sink, and attaching the new switch to the harness. A length of vinyl tubing then extends from under the cabinet to the location of your choice, where the actuator button on the end of the tubing can be pushed with your hand, elbow, knee, or foot, depending on where you choose to place it. I found it to be an elegant solution to an aggravating flaw inherent in the original faucet.

Bill
