Well, the newest Vanagons are 18 - 19 years old now.  Even with low
miles a lot parts, especially rubbers seals, gaskets, FUEL LINES,
bushings, etc. will need refreshing.  And even new, they were not as
reliable as todays new cars are.  For a fully documented professionally
restored Vanagon Westy some of these prices may be justifiable; mere low
miles doesn't really justify a 5 figure price IMHO.  And a 20 year old
Vanagon with only 70K miles has spent a lot of time sitting, which is
not really great for a car either.

They are great vehicles but they are NOT new cars.
