Subject: noisy shifting
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hello all...

I'm getting a lot of noise when shifting- all gears. Comes and goes a bit, but it always comes back. Sounds like the shift rod is dragging on something under there. I can shift from gear to gear alright, but it sounds just awful.

I have replaced the nylon parts under the gearshift ( vanagain kit); tranny is an A&A rebuild. No problems there. I'm thinking the bushings for the shift rod where it runs through the frame.

Is there anything easier to fix that could be the issue?

and, if not, does anyone have experience in replacing them ( where d'ya get 'em?) or fabricating new ones? or greasing them? or doing something easy to them that makes the bad noise go away? (crossing fingers and touching wood)

vehicle is an 82 diesel.

thanks all...
