Have you tried kneeling and prostrating yourself towards Hanover, Germany?
=)

Best thing would be to get a willing victim, er helper, under there to
watch.

Have you gone under yourself with the box in neutral (Handbrake and blocks!)
and shifted it by grabbing the thing in your hand?  It could be something
hanging down or loose.  That's probably your best chance to see what's up
because you can over-excursion the shift rod easily by hand.

And the good news is that's it has temporarily stopped pouring rain!
Now I need to get back to work on the Ark...
