I first met Otmar in 1993 when I bought his 914 with a 911 motor. Knowing Otmar, I can't imagine him getting stuck anywhere with a simple mechanical problem such as a blown motor.;-)

Anyway, I know of a TDI engine available 2 hours north of Otmar which might be available for pick-up Friday. Trouble is it is a complete engine. I might be able to get Overland dealer get you a new longblock but not sure if OPI is open on Friday. OPI is closer to Salinas and may permit him to pick-up directly as long as the sale is made through a dealer. That longblock is likely priced close to the complete used engine.

I am busy all weekend but have phone and email access on hand. Otmar just needs to pmail me if he wants the engine hook-up. This email is bcc'd to him.

Regards,
