Steve -

Speaking from experience, I strongly suggest you contact Steve Sandlin at vwcarlocks@hotmail.com and see about sending your Sliding Door and Rear Hatch Lock assemblies to him along with the key code and he can properly rework the wafers (they're not pins). You can get the code off of one of your front door handles - if not, have a duplicate key made and send it with the assemblies so he can read the "cuts" in the key. He has the proper equipment and wafer supply to do this as this is not for the novice.

Although I have code cut keys for the Bugs/Ghias/Split Bus/Bay Windows/Type 3s for the past 20+ years, I don't have the proper equipment to cut the special double sided Vanagon keys except on a duplicating grinder, otherwise I would offer to do it.

My 84 Westy has an 87 Rear Hatch with the flush release button. I was lucky that the previous owner had matched my one key to it before I bought it. -- Jim Thompson 84 GL 1.9 "Gloria" 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com *********************************** On Sat, Nov 28, 2009 at 4:19 PM, zzyzx <zzyzx9@gmail.com> wrote:
