I've seen an extremely early 1.9 powered '83.5 which had extremely different and strange cooling hoses (One piece of rubber from metal pipes all the way around the engine bay to the heads!) They were clearly stock as well! Maybe that's what they meant? I've never seen it again and think it's probably very uncommon.
