Subject: Salt Lake City, UT Aircooled mechanic wanted
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi Folks, My 82 westfalia is having blow by and oil leaks to the point I need to have work done before it fails big time. I was going to buy an AVP rebuild from California and have it put in but the more I think about it I'm now leaning towards finding a local aircooled guy to work on the existing block. It was a good Mark Stephens high Performance rebuilt engine that I put in over 10 years ago. I think its a good rebuildable engine. I've talked to several local mechanics in the Salt lake Valley about repairing/rebuilding the existing engine.

Then I checked the vanagon website for mechanics. I've talked with Sheilds, Air Cooled Engineering, and Waynes Vee Double U. Three price quotes ranged from $3000 to $4800. So before I plunk down such a large chunk of change, I thought I'd double check the list experience first. Does anyone have any recommendations (Good or Bad) on a good aircooled mechanic in Salt Lake? Also I'd be interested in hearing anyone's experience with the three I listed above or any others people know about. You can email me off list. 57skibum@gmail.com

Thanks in advance, Ken Wyatt 82 westfalia SLC, UT
