Good to know the bearings numbers, but where one can find good quality ones. I remember brands which were immencely superior to what one can buy today. Where are Torrington, Fafnir.........? The bearings ( after extensive testing ) I installed in a turbine ( turbine dia. 13", 18,000 RPM) of an industrial 15 KW laser were made in Japan. They were undestructible and very quiet lubricated with German made Klueber grease. I hope that many will agree with me that it pays to spend 3 times more for a bearing which will last. The plastic into which alternator's small bearing is set is a design which you will not find in aircraft production. I replaced it with a wave insert in 1988 the armature turns smooth and with no shake. Bearings are made to very tight tolerances, much closer than the shafts or the seats. Ark.
