OK,...then how about the dreaded T2 sensor in later Vanagons...I've seen a lot of posts about that one too.  Again...no direct experience....just reading and listening.  Could correlate to your mention of "engine temp".  Seems like the prognosis indicates removal, inspection, and thorough drying of these sensor thingies.  I don't know...bake them in your oven at 175 for a half hour or so....TOTALLY WITHOUT BASIS OR UNDERSTANDING OF THIS IDEA....just the idea to get that water out of there!  Knowledgeable minds, PLEASE respond  (Dennis Haynes, Mark Drillock?)  Ooof....I might get relegated to the dungeon for speaking out without understanding....

But the ECU ignores it at start and for some period (depending on engine temp) afterward.
