Pressure washing an engine/drive train is no big deal if you have some idea what you are doing. Pressure washing a running engine is another thing altogether, regardless of what you know- particularly with cold water. I wonder what your afternoon would have been like if you'd completed a circuit with the charging system.

I think you're very lucky to only have a poor running problem out of it.
