You can be surprised how small an impact at the right place and speed can upset a vehicle. I once saw a Nissan Quest get hit in the rear corner and it actually went air borne, flipping over its nose. The occupants were not lucky. The worst part of that accident was the injuries obviously caused by stuff in the van flying around and hitting the people. Suitcases are heavy in flight.

The possibility of a rollover is particularly high in a VW van or Vanagon. Keep this in mind when packing coolers and porta-pottis and other stuff in passenger area with passengers. Auxiliary batteries need to firmly anchored. Seat belts are your best friend in these events.

How did it happen to flip it? Was it one of those slant-nosed minivans? We've all been impressed with the Volvo video; but it seems to me it shouldn't be all that easy to t-bone something and dump it on its side like that.

A word of wisdom for all those driving with small kids in the back seat: Please let them fuss or cry and pay attention to the road. A lady ran a stop sign, broadsided me, and flipped my van today. I'm pretty sure it's totaled but I'll find out tomorrow. :( I had my kids in the back seat too. Thank God we're all okay!
