throttle switch. I'm finding *many* vanagon throttle switches not making contact at idle. I'm finding the later type switches ( where it's one switch mounted under the throttle body , which is late 85 1.9's and all 2.1's ) ........that they are hard to get to an adjustment, or to 'reach' a spot with proper switch function - like I'm at the limit of the adjustment range on one end.

I'm also finding them corroded, stripped, and impossible to adjust. That the ECU knows the engine is at idle, is *very* important. Suggest you check that carefully.

Having a similar problem w/ my 86 Syncro, even after new Temp 2 sensor and O2 Sensor. Pugs/wire/cap/rotor also new. Going to clean grounds next, then dive into the AFM. But I'm interested in any continued advice to feed the back of my little brain.

Thanks,
