The EVAP purge valve is likely quite pricey new. Be certain it's at fault if you suspect it. It should cycle on/off at certain times when engine running. You should be able to put your hand on it and feel this. To find it follow hose from charcoal canister. It should be on LH side of engine bay.

Some have used a Volvo purge valve (Bosch) Still pricey, but less money. That info is likely in the VR forum. I can't verify if this is true though to my eye, (was looking at this for my ABA swap..... I believe it's the same part) the parts look the same.

When they fail, I've read that they fail open. In that case, gas fumes from fuel system may gather in intake possibly causing intermittent hard starting.
