Dear Bob, That's actually a recipe for destroying the ignition system in progressive and mysterious ways (because of over-voltage). Correct procedure for the Vanagon is always to short the coil output to ground. But there's no need to crank the engine -- turn the key on and off, rinse and repeat until leak is found. Yours, D |
