Hello, Loren; nicely said. I would like to say this forum as well as all the other Vanagon forums had instilled a rather 2nd family for me. It's seem I can't get enough. So thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experiences with me and others. I have been a part of the Harley-Davidson experience for over thirty years and I not judging the different between them, but I will say I have never felt love and passion like this. When my cousin give me my 1982 Vanagon, and I had to drive 100 mile to get it which was broken down and he never saw it. He bought it site unseen, but told me all the things one can do with Vanagons and I knew nothing about them. I try to get the vanagon up and running and ran into a few problems.. If it weren't for my neighbor and these four forums, Vanagon, Diesel Vanagon, Westfalia & TDI Conversion, I would have not gotten so addictied. My wife thought I was crazy for putting so much money into such a old vehicle, but now she love it. For the amount of money I put in my Vanagon and the amount I will be putting in to her in the future is now my number one hobbie. I can't get enough. I want more. So thanks again to all and I wish all of you the best of fun and expereinces with yours and the people that complete it. If anyone is in need of any help when traveling thru Phx/Mesa AZ. drop me a line. Scott Greiner 1982 Diesel Westy - just completed a 1.9 TDI AHU motor transplant - She a daily driver. I'll confess. I have not rode my 5 motorcycle since she been up and running, that 3 months. O'yea, be the way I do have two names for my Vanagon. I have a beautful Black Lab and he will not get out of the Vanagon if the door is open he is in it till I give him a ride around town. So I call her " The Bears Den" and "The Dog House". I'm given thinking of getting a tattoo that saids "My 82 Vanagon Westy around a VW emblem logo:) ________________________________ From: Loren Busch <starwagen@GMAIL.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Wed, December 9, 2009 11:02:32 PM Subject: Re: The List RE: The 'List' I've been watching this thread for the last day and need to make this comment. During my lifetime (and I'm a little older than many of you) I've been associated with a lot of groups that gather around a central interest. And for those that take the comments here lightly I want to emphasize that I have never encountered such a group as those driving Vanagons and Buses. Not to talk to, not to hang out with, not to camp with. But especially I have never seen such a wide, unquestioning support network. So those of you that might take this community lightly, don't. It is unique and rare. |
