Indeed... Although it seemed like the writer thought that sleeping in your van for two days was some kind of hardship, proving one's dedication to the cause.

No, that's the way I spend my vacation time.

Hardship is when you drive the van to work in a snowstorm and it blows out a coolant hose. Luckily I was close to a NAPA outlet and they were able to order the part in 90 minutes.
